Human Resources Manager Job (Boston, MA, US)

Summary:

The HR Manager provides HR related leadership, guidance and support to the various Business Units and the Newsroom. Drive toward the achievement of departmental and corporate goals with an emphasis on talent acquisition, training/development and performance management, organization design, change management, and employee relations consultation. This role also owns the Co-op and Intern program company wide.

Requirements:

Recruiting and On-Boarding:
- Attract and recruit high caliber staff to support the business in achieving its goals in a cost effective manner
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure that the robust recruitment and on-boarding processes exist and are followed (including appropriate interviewing, pre-employment checks, documentation, and new hire orientation).
- Drive the recruiting process such that positions are filled on time and within the approved spend (a time to fill rate goal will be established each calendar year)

Performance Management / Organizational Development
- Provide performance management coaching and training by using the performance appraisal tools. Assist managers in creating and implementing development plans for key personnel including talent pool and talent review processes. Provide assistance and coaching in remedial situations.
- Consult with department heads to identify, recommend and execute short and long-term organizational development needs (ex. structural changes to increase productivity, strategic staffing, and department operational efficiencies).
- Provide access to training opportunities for the department’s employees to develop the skills and competencies necessary to contribute to the high performance of the team.
- Investigate/resolve all unique employee issues

HR Operations
- Ensure that internal clients are in compliance with HR processes
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State policies and laws
- Complete all reporting and paperwork requirements with accuracy and timeliness

Project Management
- Assist with the development and execution of various HR related projects and initiatives. On occasion own a project from creation to implementation.

Qualifications:

- BA and 5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Natural curiosity around business issues and how they relate to HR.
- Experience in recruiting, organization development, conflict resolution, project management and process improvement.
- Understanding of state and federal employment law.
- Experience with Peoplesoft a plus
