THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN BOSTON
Boston Globe / Boston.com has an immediate need for an Assistant Payroll Manager who will be responsible for processing the payroll cycles in our dynamic organization. This role is specifically responsible for the weekly payroll for union staff. This is a highly visible position reporting to the Payroll Manager and collaborating with senior leadership in the Finance Department. This position is responsible for partnering with managers and employees across the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process weekly payroll for union staff.
- Assist in the review and approval process of bi-weekly non-union employee’s time and attendance – and reconcile those records.
Provide on demand and accurate reporting of time and attendance to dept managers.
- Ensure accrual benefits are calculated properly including reporting and reconciliation of discrepancies based on contractual requirements.
- Weekly review of employee new hires, terms, departmental transfers, job, salary and status changes within PSHR and Kronos systems.
- Assist in quarterly audit based on SOX compliance (internal and external).
- Process Federal, State and/or Court Orders relative to employees obligations/liens. Respond in timely manner to Unemployment inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of payroll experience preferably in a unionized environment.
- Basic knowledge of GL relative to payroll entries.
- Experience with Kronos Time and Attendance and People Soft HRI/Finance systems.
- Deadline driven with proven attention to details
- Team player with customer service orientation
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
