Design Director, T Brand Studio Job (London, UK, US)

Job Description:

T Brand Studio is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content strategists, videographers, designers and developers creating branded content across all of advertiser verticals, of The New York Times’s domestic U.S. and international editions. Our work spans a variety of forms — short- and long-form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations and more — and ranges from unbranded to branded.

Based in London, the Design Director will lead creative services, design vision and work process for the branded content programs coming out of EMEA and Asia. Duties will include developing innovative design concepts in tandem with the Creative Director in New York, working closely with the editorial and production teams in London and Paris, and managing the implementation of design into new advertising programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

In collaboration with the Creative Director of T Brand Studio in New York, lead creative services for branded content and custom advertising

-

Help instill and implement the New York HQ’s design vision, philosophy and work process for programs coming out of EMEA and Asia that also maintains the standards of The New York Times

Produce storyboards, wireframes and detailed mockups necessary to guide development of beautiful, original and creative experiences from concept to implementation

Create visual designs that address business, brand, market and user requirements, including the design and production of site layouts, marketing elements, content treatment and user interface elements
- Work with the New York technology team on the development and implementation of creative assets in campaigns
- Collaborate with sales and sales development in brainstorming client-specific program concepts
- Lead client-facing creative discussions for running and upcoming branded content campaigns
- Co-manage a growing network of freelance designers

EXPERIENCE:

-

BA or BFA in Graphic Design or Digital Media Design

-

5+ years of digital/interactive design experience in a publishing or agency environment

-

Business proficiency or fluency in French preferred

-

Familiarity with collaborative sales processes preferred

-

Solid understanding of UI/UX design and high interest in inventing and developing new experiences for all devices

-

Experience with online media, digital editions, social networks and digital trends

-

Passion for layout design, branding and typography

-

Strong time management and multitasking abilities

-

Experience in the media industry is essential, branded content preferred

-

Proven background in designing high-quality content

-

Strong portfolio showing previous visual and interaction design work

-

Good aesthetic sense, strong typography skills and motion design ability

-

Technical aptitude and a familiarity working with HTML, Javascript and CSS

-

Proficient in Adobe DPS, the full Adobe Creative Suite and Keynote
