The New York Times started on paper. Then we moved to the web. And now we’re focused on mobile.
We are looking to grow the NYTimes mobile team to help bring our award-winning journalism to new platforms and technologies. As a software engineer on the iOS Frameworks team, you’ll be responsible for creating and improving shared code across all of the New York Times iOS applications.
We look for engineers who take pride in writing reusable code with an emphasis on quality over quantity. At the Times, we deal with scale and architectural challenges on a regular basis, and the code we write has to hold up as well as our world-renowned journalism. The Frameworks team is the driving force at the Times for ensuring that these challenges are met with the best solutions. The ideal candidate has experience designing functional and clear APIs, is fluent in current best practices and design patterns, and is excited to work with other teams to create an architecture that works for their needs. Candidates are expected to have several years of iOS experience. Knowledge of CocoaPods is beneficial, but not required.
As a part of our iOS team, you will enjoy a vibrant culture that promotes innovation nestled within an established and respected institution. Inside our gorgeous Midtown building, you will find floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of whiteboards, a team with a sense of humor, and countless colleagues with a passion for developing products people love and the rock-solid software that powers them.
