T Brand Studio is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content strategists, videographers, designers and developers creating branded content across all of The New York Times’ advertiser verticals. The Content Strategist’s primary responsibility is to educate clients about and help them explore the possibilities of branded content — working hand in hand with them to develop objectives and approach. This role will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and partnerships that enable, and drive, revenue growth — complementing the sales team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Serve as studio representative in pre-sale client meetings to explain and provide guidance on studio capabilities and offerings, including: editorial services, pricing, workflow, audience development
- Ideate, build and help achieve concepts/content strategies that communicate and achieve client objectives
- Educate clients about the importance and opportunities of branded content
- Research, identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Attend industry conferences to keep up with content trends, build new relationships and develop new opportunities
- In partnership with editorial team, conduct research on specific industries to help with brainstorming
- Collaborate with studio team to determine whether client goals and expectations can be met before deals are closed
- Help establish a framework for assessing new opportunities
EXPERIENCE:
- BA or BS degree required
- 7+ years of experience in a publishing or agency environment
- 2+ years of experience in a business development role
- Journalistic/editorial experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work face-to-face with client teams
- Extensive knowledge of the native advertising and branded content spaces
- Ability to write clearly and without jargon
- Avid consumer of media, of all types
- Thick skin and a top-notch sense of humor
