Mobile Product Deputy Job (New York City, NY, US)

Overview: We are searching for a talented and experienced product deputy to oversee operations for cross-product initiatives and lead a series of strategic programs. The ideal candidate has a background in product strategy and/or product management, experience at a consumer-facing Internet and/or mobile company, and a strong understanding of the mobile industry. This position requires strategic, analytical and operational expertise, along with proven success facilitating innovative and profitable products. The role will act as deputy to the Vice President, Product and will help represent the group to senior management and across the organization.

Program Management and Operations: Keeps his/her pulse on a portfolio of projects and helps connect dots with others across the company to ensure that our most important initiatives get done well.
- Supports VP of Product in cross-product prioritization, roadmap planning and performance analysis.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams to plan and track projects of high importance. Includes setting up product discovery teams, defining test plans and measuring clear success criteria.
- Runs a series of cross-functional meetings and leads follow-up.
- Champions improvements and efficiencies in our product process.

Strategic Initiatives: Leads the planning of new cross-product initiatives intended to drive audience growth, engagement, and revenues.
- Partners with Business Development, Strategy, Advertising, Marketing, Newsroom, Technology and Customer Insights Group to identify and act on new opportunities in coordination with product leads. Examples might include new partnerships designed to drive qualified app installs or new mobile native advertising opportunities.
- Provides perspective on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and product ideas / best practices.

Other Responsibilities:
- Acts as a point of contact between senior management, stakeholders and product leads.
- Prepares updates for senior management and company-wide meetings.

Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience in digital media in a position of similar responsibilities, including excellent leadership skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytic abilities coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a changing and highly matrixed organization to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
- A passion for mobile and for The New York Times.
- A sense of humor.
