The NY Times E-Commerce team is looking for a hands-on, experienced DevOps engineer to work alongside the E-Commerce teams developing our build infrastructure, automation scripts, and deployment architecture. The right candidate will be experienced introducing DevOps practices and automating build processes into existing development teams and applications. Qualifications:
- Experience automating builds with Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible
- Experience designing build scenarios enabling application deployment in high availability environments
- Experience setting up and tuning Apache, NGINX, Varnish, HAProxy
- Experience with Linux, Shell Scripting, and building RPMs
- Experience with Maven, Gradle
- Experience with open source monitoring tools like Nagios, Graphite
- Strong background in Java and PHP
- Knowledge of Docker, Vagrant
- Formal Computer Science background
Preferred but not required:
- Knowledge of EC2, VMWare ESX
- Experience architecting database replication scenarios for relational and NoSQL databases
- Working in an agile development methodology and continuous delivery environment
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain build process automation
- Ensure systems are developed and fully tested
- See all changes through to production deployment
- Contribute to peer reviews of code
- Guides application developers on best practices for build automation
