Inventory Manager Job (New York City, NY, US)

The New York Times is seeking an intellectually curious employee who is eager to dive into the various inventory management and optimization challenges in our digital advertising business.
As the Inventory Manager, you will be the subject matter expert on the organization and management of our digital ad product inventory across proprietary and third party order management systems. You will collaborate with ad operations, ad products, sales, and sales planning colleagues to market, package, and optimize sell throughof new and existing ad products.
We are looking for an individual with a superb work ethic, responsible for various activities, which include:

Responsibilities:

Manage daily inventory requests from Ad Product, Sales, and Sales Planning teams, providing
recommendations for alternatives when desired inventory is unavailable.
Review requests for additions or changes to existing ad product catalog, using reporting/analytics
tools to assess inventory volume, ad targeting capabilities, execution challenges and potential
conflicts with existing products and business rules.
Update product and inventory in order management tool (DSM) as needed, relaying changes and
impacts to system users and stakeholders.
Daily administration in DSM, including set up and maintenance of ad products, inventory forecasts, user accounts, user groups, and order management rules.

Point person for DSM performance, reporting, or usage questions.
Proactively monitor booked and pitched business, and alert Sales, Sales Planners, and Ad
Operations to potential delivery issues due to overbooking, traffic changes, and overlaps across all properties.
Strategize with team members to develop and implement best practices and improvements for order & inventory management.
Collaborate with cross functional groups including Ad Ops, Product, Ad Solutions, Finance, and
Sales to identify inventory opportunities.

Skills/Experience
2 – 3 years of experience in ad trafficking or inventory management strongly preferred.
Experience with Doubleclick DFP & DSM or other order management tool (Operative, FatTail)
strongly preferred.
Candidate must possess excellent attention to detail and be self-motivated, with an ability to work in a fast paced atmosphere to meet tight deadlines.
Excel proficiency required.
