The New York Times is seeking a Summer Technology Intern to join the Data Universe, Content API team.
What It’s All About…
Work on the web services that help power The New York Times website and mobile applications, as a web developer.
What You’ll Do…
In the Content APIs group you will work on RESTful web services that provide data ranging from movie reviews and event listings to recipe ingredients and bestsellers lists.
Who Should Apply…

Do you like to work in a fast paced technology oriented group of like-minded individuals? Do want to work on a highly scalable, self-healing, architecture?
Recommended skills / characteristics include the following:
- Be pursuing a Comp Science degree or equivalent experience
- You should be familiar with web development using PHP and MySQL.
- Knowledge of Elasticsearch, Amazon Web Service, NoSQL and jQuery are a plus.
- Top-notch problem solving skills and solid judgment
- Ideally you will have an interest in digital media
- Passion for the NYT
- The ability to communicate and collaborate well with a smart, diverse team is a must
The Gritty Details…
- This is a paid 10 week internship, 40 hours a week
- Start date is early June to mid August
- Location is The New York Times headquarters in midtown Manhattan
