Job Description: To provide General Ledger accounting support and service to the company and customers through journal processing, data verification, account reconciliation, and issue resolution. The function of this position is to provide superior customer support to the business managers and accounting staff of related business units. Ensure that monthly reconciliations are completed in a timely manner, and to provide assistance ensuring that the month-end close process is performed accurately and timely.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical review on selected General Ledger accounts and research unexpected or unusual results. Provide analysis of the results of actual data to forecast utilizing Essbase and PeopleSoft reports.
- Respond to questions from business units regarding general accounting and/or PeopleSoft
system matters, investigate and resolve GL inconsistencies and assist with certain ad hoc or customized analytics.
- Apply proper accounting treatment to new financial transactions and record applicable journal entries to the General Ledger.
- Coordinate all aspects of expense reporting for foreign correspondents and bureaus
- Review and analyze foreign bureau financial statements and prepare journal entries for posting to the GL
- Analyze multi-currency transactions and ensure the accuracy of foreign currency translations in the GL
- Perform analyses to review accrual amounts and recommend adjustments based on actual activity
- Ensure accounting procedures are properly documented; maintain strong internal controls
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 1-3 years general accounting experience required
- Ability to convert complex data into meaningful information so actionable plans can be developed.
- Ability to demonstrate an analytical, methodical and resourceful approach to problem solving
- Good verbal and written communication skills, necessary to articulate ideas and prepare analyses
- Good interpersonal skills, necessary to build and maintain relationships and interact well across all levels
- Ability to prioritize and ensure completion of critical tasks
- Ability to work effectively alone as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities, circumstances, and personal interaction styles
- Good understanding of general accounting concepts and procedures
- Experience with PeopleSoft highly desirable
- Must be detailed orientated
