Software Engineer – eCommerce Job (New York City, NY, US)

A software developer is required to work on the New York Times state-of-the-art pay model projects. New York Times is a world leader in paid digital subscriptions. Paid subscriptions were introduced in 2011 and the project has since generated over 700,000 subscribers, changing the face of the business. This role requires a developer with solid PHP, Java, and database skills to work on our Customer Care application. The application is based upon SugarCRM and heavily customized to meet the needs of the New York Times. The work is based in NY.

Qualifications:


- Strong PHP and Java

- Strong relational database background (Oracle, MySQL or SQL server)

- Experience with Sugar CRM is a plus

- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (Mango, Cassandra) is a plus

- Web Services experience is a plus

- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms

- Experience with interactive end user applications

- Search background a plus

- Good communication skills

- Formal Computer Science background

Responsibilities:


- Designs and develops software

- Unit tests developed software

- Ensures developed software is handed off to QA for further testing

- Contributes to peer reviews of software
