Job Description:
The New York Times is looking for a talented developer to build the systems we need to keep growing our global audience. In this role you will have the opportunity to code at all levels of our stack, from the data systems at back of the back end, to the HTML/JS/CSS at the front of the front end. You will collaborate with teams throughout the company to implement the latest web standards; reimagine archival content and revitalize existing systems. And, most importantly, you will work with some of the most talented, passionate and dedicated developers on the planet.
Requirements
- B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years previous experience working on SEO teams and/or projects.
- Solid understanding of web application architecture and the fundamentals of software design, object oriented software, and design patterns.
- Mastery of Java or Python and experience with both.
- Mastery of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and PHP.
- Experience working with at least one relational database (e.g. MySQL) and one non-relational database (e.g. MongoDB).
- Strong track record of systems successfully running in production.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Responsibilities
- Designs and develops application code in PHP, Java, and Python.
- Executes technical direction of application architectures based on assigned projects
- Works with internal stakeholders to define requirements and validate results
- Coordinates with QA team to help create test plans and resolve bugs
