Job Description:
The games product manager is a newly created role that will be responsible for the New York Times digital crosswords and other games. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, innovator and data-driven professional. This position requires a passion for user experience, and both business and technical acumen. The preferred candidate will have a deep understanding of gaming and e-commerce product development.
Responsibilities:
- Work with leadership on defining games vision.
- Optimize games for discoverability, engagement and monetization
- Lead and manage strategy to optimize revenue and meet financial objectives.
- Innovate on existing games by managing plan, process, build and release and continually iterate.
- Manage product analytics and testing using multivariate analyses.
- Work closely across technology, design, marketing, and customer insights to identify business requirements and manage project deliverables.
- Stay abreast of the marketplace and competitive set.
- Understand drivers behind business performance and identify opportunities.
- Develop, maintain and execute product roadmap for games.
- Work with cross-functional teams to optimize user experience.
- Maintain project plan milestones and keep them up to date through coordination with team leads.
- Assure that projects complete according to schedule and within budget.
- Act as the client point-of-contact for all project-related issues.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of product management experience, working on larger, more complex and cross-functional projects in digital gaming
- Deep understanding of NYT brand
- Thorough knowledge of the games industry
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, prioritization, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven capability in project management including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations and run team meetings.
- Knowledge of web, mobile and social technologies and platforms, development processes and the delivery of solutions with creative and engineering components.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems with keen instincts and organizational experience.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- A sense of humor
