The NYT Video team is looking for a talented Project Manager to manage the daily operations of the video product and technology team.
We are a passionate, close-knit and nimble team that cares deeply about video products and its underlying technologies. Our candidate must have strong personality and be able to provide effective leadership while working within an Agile framework.
Responsibilities:
- Fills role of Scrum Master and leads Agile software development methodology with all team members.
- Works closely with technical team to ensure that development is on track and impediments are removed.
- Coordinates with QA lead on development projects to ensure that all releases are properly tested.
- Works closely with Product Owner and Program Manager to manage multiple product backlogs and roadmaps.
- Collaborates with other technology teams and key stakeholders at the Times to define, develop and execute new features.
- Proactively communicates with immediate team and to larger group of stakeholders relevant project statuses, updates and release plans.
- Meets regularly with Program Manager to ensure that work-in-progress is on track.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with various project management and development methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile and ideally, Lean.
- Experience working in digital organizations and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Experience leading Planning meetings & Retrospectives.
- Comfortable in a technical working environment.
- Passionate about process and continuous improvement.
- Experience juggling multiple projects at the same time and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to help the team meet its goals.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience and/or enthusiasm for video technology a huge plus.
