The New York Times is seeking a curious, creative and collaborative full stack developer to join a team dedicated to creating and growing new products.
You’ll be a part of the team that launched NYT Cooking and NYT Now in 2014. We are a small team of developers, designers, editors and product managers focused on launching and scaling new products for the New York Times. We are looking for a senior developer who will be able to serve in a lead technical role as we explore and launch new products. The ideal candidate is as comfortable talking about product development as he or she is architecting and developing applications.
The successful candidate must be experienced with web development and be able to develop a project through its entire lifecycle. Also critical is an attention to detail, a strong sense of ownership, pride in the quality of one's work and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and strategy to non-technical team members as you explore new product ideas
- Develop functional prototypes of new products
- Take ownership of architecting and developing portions of new applications for the New York Times' website
- Work as part of a small, cross-functional team including product, design and the newsroom to create new products on nytimes.com
Requirements:
- A strong interest in improving the way we deliver our journalism to readers
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A demonstrated ability to manage one’s time and see projects through to completion
- Experience developing and launching web applications
- Hands-on experience developing in a range of client and server side web technologies
