Front End Developer Job (New York City, NY, US)

Position: T Brand Studio is a new and exciting group within The New York Times that is focused on bringing innovative advertising and branded content products to life for advertisers.

We are hiring a Front End Developer to assist in the development of advertising projects and technical initiatives. This includes development of single page applications, compelling and accurate data-visualizations and engaging interactive experiences on multiple devices. In addition to production work, a good candidate will have a passion for keeping up with new technologies and building rapid prototypes in a self-directed manner. Our mandate is to advocate for and create high-quality web technology (along with server-side components where necessary) in collaboration with UX architects, editors, designers and producers in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Key Areas of Accountability:
- Implement high-end web products, specifically single-page sponsored content experiences, mobile integrations and dynamic ad units
- Create front end prototypes using web technologies, including but not limited to HTML5, CSS and JavaScript for responsive development projects
- Implement designs in HTML5 for multiple devices
- Support client relationships directly and indirectly, including participating on client calls to discuss technical executions and strategy with UX, editorial and design

Requirements:
- A wide variety of frameworks and web technologies, including but not limited to Backbone, D3, Ajax and JSON API’s
- Experience with online media and digital environments (publisher, brand or agency) is a big plus
- Proven record of technical knowledge as it relates to web development, the ability to know what can be done and carrying it through implementation
- Portfolio demonstrating development skills including JavaScript, web and responsive design
- Proven skill in verbal and written communication; comfort with pitching ideas
- Full stack development experience is a plus
- Native mobile app development is a big plus
- Solid understanding of UI/UX design and high interest in investing and developing new experiences for all devices
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects, small and large, in a fast-paced environment
- Thick skin and a top-notch sense of humor
