Senior Accountant Job (New York City, NY, US)

Purpose: To assist in the Company’s internal and external financial reporting; to assist in ensuring compliance with GAAP/SEC requirements; and to perform special projects, as needed.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Prepare, review, analyze and communicate financial, accounting and statistical information for Corporate and G&A expenses
- Perform monthly closing procedures for Corporate & G&A expenses and balance sheet accounts, as assigned. This includes performing and/or reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Communicate with operational departments to research and report on all business issues.
- Review assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement.
- Perform Sarbanes-Oxley assessments and/or testing, as required.
- Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments, as needed.
- Investigate and research accounting questions related to internal and external reporting issues to ensure that financial activity is recorded in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures and GAAP
- Work with internal and external auditors; responsible for responding to information requests from the Company’s external auditors in connection with their quarterly reviews and annual audit of the Company’s financial statements.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects, such as acquisitions, dispositions and peer group analysis.
- Convert complex data into meaningful information so actionable plans can be developed.

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

· Undergraduate degree in Accounting required

· CPA required

· 5 years of accounting experience

· Knowledge of technical accounting pronouncements and standards (GAAP, FASB)

· Capacity to understand, analyze and summarize complex financial data in a clear concise manner

· Effective time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

· Excellent interpersonal skills, necessary for collaborating and negotiating with customer and contacts

· Ability to work in a team spirited, collaborative environment

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Fluency in Windows, Excel and Word required. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Hyperion, and Essbase, a plus
