Job Description:
The New York Times is seeking a curious, creative and well-rounded web developer to join
a new team dedicated to working with the newsroom and business leaders to explore and
prototype new product ideas.
The successful candidate must be able to work closely with non-technical team members
to quickly turn ideas or designs into tangible prototypes. We are looking for experienced
developers who have broad knowledge of web development. You must be able to quickly
build functional prototypes of complex products. The ideal candidate is also familiar with the
media landscape and is able to advocate for best practices within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a small cross-functional team to develop and test prototypes of new
products
- As often the only technical voice in the room, help the team to manage scope and focus on
shipping.
- Keep up to date on technical innovations inside and outside the company which could
contribute to new products
Qualifications:
- A strong interest in exploring new products at a media company
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated experience with end-to-end ownership of web applications
- Ability to develop in a variety of server and client side web technologies
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to problem-solve independently
