Product Manager, Web Products Job (New York City, NY, US)

The Product Manager, Web Products, is a key member of a team responsible for the product evolution and business performance of www.nytimes.com, our single largest digital property. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of strategic and operational credentials.

Responsibilities:

- Work with Product Director to define vision and key phases of product releases and deliverables on roadmap
- Manage and complete all daily product responsibilities on schedule, including but not limited to, workflow management, production, and deployment
- Identify, gather and prioritize product requirements and opportunities based on user needs and business metrics
- Write use cases and specifications for product launches via JIRA, Confluence and other tools
- Define, monitor, and analyze key performance metrics, clearly communicate what the numbers represent, and provide insight to drive product development recommendations
- Use consumer feedback, site metrics, market research, and competitive analysis to create compelling cases for what we should do and why
- Work closely with the newsroom, advertising, and marketing to ensure that user and commercial interests are balanced and aligned
- Partner with technology, design and editorial teams to develop and execute against product roadmaps
- Partner with marketing and paid products teams to find ways to meet subscriber and revenue goals
- Work closely with advertising to deliver capabilities that meet sales goals
- Maintain relationships, effectively communicate and evangelize product vision and strategy to get buy-in from all stakeholders internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of product management experience at a content-driven media company managing product or project responsibilities of large-scale consumer-facing products
- Proven ability to meet and exceed stretch goals
- Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation, user research and business case development to drive decisions and improve products
- Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly, customer-facing features and communicating these through wire frames and mock ups
- Experience defining, setting-up, running and interpreting A/B experiments
- Knowledge of internet technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and server side technologies)
- Deep interest in developing next-generation reader experiences
- Understanding of ad-operations and digital media landscape
- Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals
- Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; a track record of responding quickly to rapidly evolving threats and opportunities
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Speak comfortably in a variety of settings including one-on-one and in front of large groups.
- Bachelor's degree; technical background preferred
