Job Description:
We are searching for a talented and experienced product leader to help oversee a portfolio of products. The ideal candidate has a background in mobile product management, experience at a consumer-facing Internet and/or mobile company, prior team management experience, and a strong familiarity with mobile technologies and development processes. This position also requires strong strategic and analytical prowess and proven success building innovative and profitable mobile products. The Director will act as deputy to the Vice President, Product to handle operations for the group and to help represent the group to senior management and across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the mobile product and other teams, establish the long-term product strategy across mobile platforms and services, including the mobile web and mobile applications.
- Have direct or indirect product development and management responsibilities for a portfolio of products. Working with the mobile product team, serve as a product owner and/or subject matter expert on lean product development practices.
- Outline vision and key phases of mobile product discovery and build phases on roadmap.
- Partner with technology, design, editorial, marketing and advertising teams to develop and execute against product roadmaps that meet and exceed audience growth and revenue goals.
- Direct customer insights group on analysis and research required to monitor product usage and identify actionable insights.
- Provide perspective on industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive landscapes, and product ideas / best practices.
- Manage and deliver internal updates for management and at cross-functional team meetings.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of experience in product management or position of similar responsibilities, including excellent leadership and management skills.
- 3+ years focused on mobile products.
- Strong understanding of the mobile industry at a global level, including mobile technologies and mobile business models.
- Ability to identify user needs and translate them into compelling mobile product strategies.
- Existing industry network with access to influentials and industry trends.
- Strong quantitative and analytic abilities coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
- A passion for Mobile and for The New York Times.
- A sense of humor.
