BGM Creative is The Boston Globe’s and Boston.com’s in-house creative services department, providing agency-level services in all media: digital, print, and broadcast. We are responsible for conceiving and executing advertising creative on behalf of paying advertisers, as well as marketing campaigns to promote our own brands and products. The Interactive Developer would be a close collaborator with the designers in the creative process, in cooperation with the Ad Operations team. We are a fun, collaborative group. We produce our best work with mutual consultation and assist each other as needed. The right candidate must be able to thrive in this type of shared environment.
Responsibilities:
- Execute front-end programming duties in support of new digital ad product development.
- Collaborate with graphic designers in the concept and execution of online rich media
- Provide front end development primarily with custom JavaScript solutions, in combination with Flash ActionScript.
- Create custom web pages and microsites (desktop and mobile) and HTML emails.
- Support Ad Operations team to resolve issues with display advertising and provide assistance to Ad Operations team in testing and tracking of campaigns.
- Contribute to creation of new ad products and digital solutions.
- Assist Technology Manager in research and QA for new product innovation.
- Research feasibility of new technologies or capabilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Expert in HTML, CSS and JavaScript (required)
- A portfolio of projects you are excited to showcase, including sample code written in your own hand (required)
- Good verbal and written communication skills (required)
- Proficiency in Flash Actionscript (preferred)
- Some familiarity with PHP or comparable server side coding language (preferred)
- BA or BS in a Technology-related field (preferred, but not necessary)
- You must be able to work well in a team setting and have good organization and time management skills.
