Responsibilities
- Understand New York Times strategy and competitive position, and work closely with other product managers to help shape plans for evolving the overall Times reader experience.
- Generate hypotheses for new features and define methods and metrics for identifying success and failure while ensuring the team is clear on their objectives.
- Define KPIs, run A/B tests, analyze results and communicate findings to the organization.
- Inform product decisions with quantitative data on user behavior and experimentation (a/b testing).
- Build use cases and user stories around a product and communicate them effectively.
- Integrate usability studies, user research, market analysis, and community feedback into product requirements to ensure products satisfy reader needs as well as wants.
- Facilitate communication throughout the development process by partnering with a variety of internal teams including marketing, business development, customer support, and community.
- Work with the engineering team to prioritize and launch high-impact features.
Qualifications
- 5+ years product management experience with a strong focus on developing content discovery experiences at scale, especially personalization & recommender systems
- Strong use of analytics, user research and business cases to drive decisions and improve products
- Strong user experience sensibilities
- Proficient technical abilities (SQL) and ability to work closely with engineers
- Deep interest in developing next-generation reader experiences
- Experience and interest in designing simple and functional reader interfaces
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Deep knowledge of the publishing industry and understanding of competitor products
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
