Finance Editor, T Brand Studio Job (New York City, NY, US)

T Brand Studio is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content strategists, videographers, designers and developers creating branded content across all of The New York Times’ advertiser verticals. Our work spans a variety of forms — short- and long-form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations — and ranges from unbranded to more branded.

The Finance Editor will work in concert with a team of other editors/writers, and will lead editorial production for multiple branded content projects. These tasks include: conducting research; leading client meetings; brainstorming, writing and editing branded content; as well as developing and managing our editorial network.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Editorial Director and Deputy Editor, create and execute high quality branded content
- Write and edit primary- and secondary-source finance/business reporting and writing for T Brand Studio projects
- Lead client meetings to present editorial findings and content concepts
- Create high-quality branded content in collaboration with other editors, writers, content strategists, project managers, developers and other team members
- Co-manage an expanding network of freelance and in-house writers, editors and related contributors
- Maintain knowledge of new or evolving finance trends and information

EXPERIENCE:
- BA, BS and/or MA, MS in communications or journalism
- 5+ years reporting and/or editing experience in a journalistic role
- Working knowledge of finance subject areas and trends required, but experience in other verticals is a plus, including: automotive, consumer/luxury goods, entertainment, healthcare, technology and/or travel
- Preference for bona fide business journalists
- Experience in digital media workflows and technology
- Ability to work face-to-face with corporate clients and their advertising agencies
- Experience in working in collaborative sales processes
- Knowledge of the social media and branded content landscape
- Numeracy is a plus, namely the ability to research and assess data to create visualizations, quizzes and other interactive experiences
- Other preferred skills: copyediting; Adobe creative suite (basic familiarity or better); office applications (Word, Excel); editorial workflow systems
- Thick skin and a top-notch sense of humor
