The New York Times is seeking an experienced developer to join its Interactive News team. This person will work with newsroom and news service staff to adapt The Times’s online graphics and interactives for its international foreign language sites and syndication clients around the globe.
The Interactive News team operates like a startup within a large media company, building storytelling tools, platforms and projects with big data, photography, video and interactivity that engage our readers. Projects may include the Olympics, World Cup, elections or any number of high-profile stories.
The job requires solid coding skills and the ability to execute. Also critical is an attention to detail, a pride in the quality of one's work and the ability to meet news deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Expert-level understanding of standards-driven HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Proficiency with Rails, Django or similar web application frameworks.
- Experience building across browsers and devices.
- Familiarity with software internationalization and localization (i18n).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
