iOS Developer Job (New York City, NY, US)

Job Description:

The NYTimes Games team is looking for a passionate iOS engineer to join a team dedicated to creating mobile games and puzzles. You’ll be a part of a small multidisciplinary team that owns all aspects of the application, including APIs and User Experience. As such, you should expect to be involved and contribute on multi-platform software design decisions.

The iOS Engineer is responsible for building new iOS games and features into our app, ongoing maintenance, test automation, and technical documentation. The successful candidate will be an expert Objective-C developer with a strong knowledge of Cocoa Touch frameworks.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of designing and developing unique mobile-first experiences
- Work as part of a small, cross-functional team including product, design and the newsroom to create a best-in-class iOS app
- Push the envelope for mobile applications and development practices

Requirements
- Expert-level understanding of developing, benchmarking and testing iOS applications.
- Experience writing fault-tolerant code that integrates with external APIs
- A strong understanding of object-oriented software principles, design patterns and agile methodologies
- A passion for automated test frameworks and test-driven development
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Ideally
- Have at least one public-facing iOS application in the app store
- Experience with distributed version control systems like Git or Mercurial
- Experience in building as well as consuming RESTful APIs.
