VIDEO CONTENT PRODUCER
Job Description:
The video content producer will monitor the latest video available to Boston.com from all of its partners — including The Boston Globe, AP, user-submitted video, and others -- and will embed videos within stories, and on section fronts in a timely manner. The video content producer be an active presence on social media, sharing Boston.com's video content and engaging with the community. Moreover, the video content producer will manage Boston.com’s YouTube channel and multimedia players to ensure that the latest and most compelling video is accessible at all times and that a lively community presence is cultivated. He or she will work closely with the news, sports, features, and the multimedia team and will be an advocate for video placement, including live video streams, on the homepage and across the site.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor a multitude of internal and external video feeds. Determine which videos should be placed on the site, embed and/or link to those videos.
· Work with colleagues in Boston.com’s product group and outside consultants to reorganize and rebuild Boston.com’s YouTube channels and create a strong YouTube community.
· Communicate to editors and producers about the latest live streaming video opportunities, and assist in the creation of embedded video players and packaging.
· Identify compelling and potentially viral videos that should be included in existing and upcoming packages.
· Add new videos to stories and section fronts as they become available.
· Ensure that stories and section fronts are displaying the latest and most updated videos available.
· Write short blog posts and teases to promote new and potentially viral videos.
· Work with product team to identify new video partners and opportunities.
· Be a strong advocate for embedded video on section fronts and the homepage.
· Monitor analytics and video plays across the site.
· Post and or link to videos on Boston.com live blogs.
· Promote videos aggressively using social media and other types of channels.
· Advocate and help package video for major events, which may occur occasionally on nights or weekends.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Experience with working with Brightcove, YouTube, NDN, and other video platforms and vendors.
· Solid writing and reporting skills for a digital publication.
· Knowledge of Photoshop, Web content management systems, and other digital technologies.
· Basic HTML
· Working knowledge of SEO strategies, metadata, and best Web practices pertaining to video placement.
Additional desirable, but not required, qualifications
· Ability to shoot, edit, and post video on the Web.
· Basic Web programming skills.
· Experience with one or more of the following software: Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Stormpost, Omniture, Eidos Methode CMS, JavaScript, advanced HTML, and Caspio Software.
