Junior Web Developer Job (New York City, NY, US)

Job Description:

API is a new and exciting group within The New York Times that are focused on bringing innovative ideas, concepts and products to life for advertisers and agencies.

We are hiring a Junior Developer to assist in development of advertising projects and technical initiatives. This includes development of rapid prototypes for pre-sales, along with assisting the designers and creative technologists with post sales web production work across multiple platforms and devices. The Junior Developer will work with the creative technologists and designers in a high-speed, fast turn-around environment.

Responsibilities and Key Areas of Accountability:
- Work collaboratively with sales development, advertising and ad operations to integrate advertising into emerging platforms and applications.
- Produce front-end prototypes using web technologies, including but not limited to Flash (AS2 and AS3), HTML5, (CSS, JavaScript, jQuery).
- Familiarity with AJAX, mobile and app development a plus, but not required.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- An understanding of an online digital-related environment (publisher, network, or ad agency) preferred.
- Proven record of technical knowledge as it relates to web development.
- Portfolio demonstrating development skills including javascript, web design, html5 and an understanding of video formats.
- Proven skill in verbal and written communication and comfortable with pitching ideas
- Proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Ability to handle simultaneous small projects in a fast paced environment
