The Network Engineer will focus on build-out and support of the The New York Times corporate and datacenter networks involving routing/switching, security, monitoring and NMS technologies supporting Web presence. Responsibilities will include new deployments, enhancements, day-to-day implementations and on-call rotation. Occasional travel in support of datacenter implementation will be required.
The Network Engineer will need to have the following skills:
- Experience with routing and switching technologies in datacenter networks
- Good understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite
- Understanding of tunneling technologies
- Comfort with Juniper Routers and Switches - EX and MX
- Knowledge of firewall technologies - Juniper SRX and Fortinet Firewalls
- Knowledge of load balancing technologies - Citrix Netscalers and/or F5
- Understanding of WiFi technologies - Aruba and Clearpass
- Knowledge and experience with BGP, OSPF, IGMP, PIM & RSTP/MSTP
- Comfort with Linux command line environments
- Comfort with scripting languages
- Experience with scaling automation networks and tools
- Ability to systematically troubleshoot issues
- Ability to find elegant solutions to unique problems
- Ability to precisely document design and planned implementations
- Detail oriented work ethic
- Relevant certifications are a plus
