Job Description:
The Release Engineer is responsible for support and oversight of software releases in our staging and production environments. This position requires the candidate to interact with developers, QA, and process owners to create release candidates, assure SDLC adherence, and manage code deployments to various environments. The release engineer should look for ways to streamline and improve these processes, and discover new technologies and platforms that will increase efficiency and quality of our software deployments. This position will also include automated development testing processes as a partial responsibility. Qualifications:
- Well experienced with release engineering, change management and version control.
- Proficient with multiple source code control systems - SVN and GIT.
- Familiar with deployment tools such as Hudson/Jenkins.
- Have experience with tools for source code packaging, builds, versioning and deployments. Ex: Tools like make, grunt, npm, puppet, ant, maven, python and perl.
- Have worked in an Agile Scrum environment and are familiar with this process
- 2 years experience in PHP, and possess the ability to quickly learn new platforms if necessary.
- This role requires software development and troubleshooting, ability to do both is a must.
- Knowledgeable with *nix platforms, distributions (rpms), shell scripting.
- Able to manage your time effectively to meet multiple, tight deadlines.
- Willing to have fun in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
It would be nice if you:
- Release engineering experience for high traffic, large customer base web applications
- Have knowledge of configuration of all aspects of LAMP stack architectures
- Have experience with virtual computing environments such as AWS and ESX.
