Job Description:
The Managing Director, Marketing Planning is responsible for leading the marketing planning process for the Consumer Marketing department across a global suite of digital and print paid products. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of assuming a thought leadership role in the organization and have extensive marketing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Generate annual marketing plans across full product portfolio that drive consumer revenue impact
- Manage marketing strategy development process and provide thought leadership on the content of these plans as they are built and implemented
- Build long-term plan building capability across marketing function through consistent coaching of the marketing managers creating plans
- Coach marketing leadership throughout the planning process to gather feedback and gain approval/funding for marketing plans
- Bring product strategies together and work with senior management to reconcile budgets, channels and target consumers to maximize the success of the Times
- Develop the governance structure for plan implementation and assist in analyzing tactical results to make plan adjustments
- Collaborate across functions to integrate marketing strategies with the insights and actions of other groups
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years marketing experience in progressively more senior roles
- Extensive knowledge of digital marketing techniques
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding performance goals
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, planning and decision making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
